Android Support Now Available
What do you get when you remove the 'D' from Dandroid?
The ability to operate on androids on your Android with a guy named Android, apparently.
I don't usually do major updates back-to-back like this but since this update adds support for an entire new OS as well as some new player experience changes, I feel the tag more than applies. Anyway, read ahead for all that, some optimizations and other quality of life stuff.
As mentioned above, Android support was added, including many new user interface features/art to allow you to access things that could otherwise only be done with a keyboard/controller.
If you notice any hitches in the gameplay, do report them here and I'll try my best to get them ironed out.
Minimum System Requirements
To be fair, pretty much anything can start the game but if you want a chance at 60 frames per second, I suggest the following:
- 16:10 aspect ratio or wider. (Any screen that is less wide will lead to the game having no room for the android buttons to exist without clipping text.)
- At least 500 MB free space in storage.
- 2ghz Quad Core processor or better.
- 2GB or more of RAM.
- Android 9+.
Optimizations
- The initial game load time is now quicker on all systems.
- The game now runs more than 50% faster, depending on your system and location within the game.
Quality of Life
- Clicking a patient's main story node after you have viewed it at least once will now give you the ability to reread their post surgery one and two story sections without playing that patient's story over again from the start.
- A message bar will now pop up on the bottom of the screen when you hover over a story node on the world map that will tell you when that story is considered non-canonical, for those of you who are interested in such things. (Requires you to tap on the story node on Android.)
- A new loss animation was added that lets the game blocks linger just a bit longer to help you identify potential mistakes you made.
New Player Experience
- Tutorial messages should now appear for controllers in all appropriate locations if you have one plugged in.
- A new tutorial message will be displayed if you complete Little Orphan Android's surgery for the first time and get the 'okay' or 'good' ending. It will instruct you to watch the 'bad' ending to go on with the game.
- The scrolling bar at the top of the dynascope during surgery now contains more details of the current level and will show all win conditions, unique loss conditions, and special field states.
- The game will now tell you why you lost the stage at the end of a level when you lose in story mode.
- A special box displaying all input commands now appears at the top of the screen during conversations on PC/Linux. (Tab=Fast Forward, Escape=End Story, Up=Recall Dialog, Space=Next Message)
And finally, more than quite a few bugs were squished and noticed typos were untyped. If you find any more, feel free to make a post down below or over on the Discord channel.
That's all for now.
Forever your pal,
~Nachos
