The Creaky Road to Progress
It's been a while, but I return with a rather meaty update that contains over 30,000 new words of text, more than several new stage types and other various odds, ends and quality of life changes.
New Patient
Yakko One - A rather talkative butler shows up at Dandroid's lab unannounced one day. Can Dr. Dandroid get his act together long enough to spare the robot an unfortunate fate caused by the doctor's own two hands, or will they both wind up in pieces?
New Story Nodes
- Quick Swap Capers - Dandroid finally convinces a certain somebody to undergo a secondary surgery that will allow her to swap heads at will but does that leave her with the head she really wanted all along?
- Retrograde T-800 - What do you do when a tornado strikes? Why, tell ghost stories with friends, of course.
- Chicken Shingles - Dandroid gets an unexpected new friend that winds up being more than he bargained for when digging for trash on "Takesgiving".
Forgive the typo in the screenshot, I swear I can spell.
New Random Stage Types (For the respawning 'scheduled visits' nodes)
- Fragile Patient (Turn-Based) - Stack too many blocks on one side of the playing field and it's game over. You'll be given a warning before it's too late.
- Thorough Decoupling (Turn-Based + Action) - Get the field to two or fewer blocks, botroaches excluded.
- Malware (Turn-Based + Action) - When you make a move, a random block will move on its own.
- Magnetized Dynabeam (Turn-Based + Action) - Blocks that try to pass across the beam on the middle of the field get stuck on it.
- Inverted Control Panel (Turn-Based + Action) - Blocks move in the opposite direction you send them.
- Epidemic (Turn-Based + Action) - Whenever a block is destroyed, a random block will become a bacteria block.
- Faulty Hoverpanel (Turn-Based + Action) - Whenever blocks spawn, a random block becomes unable to be moved.
- Talkative Patient (Action) - Random text bubbles appear to obscure your view of the screen during surgery.
- Oil in eyes (Turn-Based + Action) - The identity of some blocks will be hidden by oil. The blocks that are hidden will change randomly. (In turn-based, it changes after you make a move.)
- Defective Number Sequencer (Puzzle) - Break only blocks that have zero moves remaining or the surgery ends in failure.
- Haywire Turning Knob (Puzzle) - Blocks that have moved horizontal can only move vertical on their next move and vice versa.
Story Changes
Meeting D.I.B.S is no longer required to enter certain story nodes. Instead, variant dialog has been added for if he has not been activated. In addition, you may now toggle whether or not his terms and conditions are accepted in "The Robot and the TV", thus leaving him out of the story entirely until the fifth patient if you so desire.
New Features
Text Rewind - You may now push up/down or L1/R1 to scroll through previous displayed text in the current story section.
Misc
- Added 3 new unlockable backgrounds for the dynascope. (Bringing the total up to 12.)
- Finished a chalkboard secret that'll eat away more than a dozen hours of your life if you're a completionist that doesn't mind a grind. (See that thing in the bottom left of the world map? Click the power button. Do it. It's the only time I'll tell.)
